What is a HUB ?

It is one of the network devices used to connect devices together
Each computer is connected to one of the ports)) In the hub, this device receives the signal from one of the ports and transmits it to all other ports.
If a hub consisting of eight ports receives a signal on port 4, it passes it immediately to port 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Types of hub devices: –

ACTIVE HUB:
This device directs the data flow to avoid collision of signals
In addition to the same function of the device to strengthen the signal passing in to a cable
The device must be supplied with electrical energy through a dedicated cable.

Passive Hub:
Dear brothers, this type of hub does not work to strengthen the transmitted signal, but a currency is limited to passing it only. This type of hub does not need to provide an electrical card and therefore it does not contain a cable to connect to an electrical power source, which is the difference between it and the active hub

Hybrid hub:
This type of hub device mixes different types of media
In other words, it can connect (Coaxial cable and UTP) or any other type of cable with each other in one hub. It also works as a link between other hub devices.

Smart (intelligent) hub:
This type of hub is distinguished as it has an administrative interface and provides support
SNMP is a protocol that is responsible for managing and controlling the network, and it allows splitting the ports into different logical networks.
(It is worth noting that the hub devices are outdated and less used)
